Between 2020 and 2021 Grace Medical Home saw an 85% increase in demand for mental health services. Nearly one third of their patients were dealing with some form of depression. In order to meet these needs, generous donors, such as Bea for Kids, joined together to provide funding to help make The Grace Wellness Home a reality. Then new wellness home will allow Grace to expand mental services offered to patients and relieve the current building of scheduling and capacity issues. The number of counseling rooms will go from five to eight, increasing capacity by 60%. They anticipate serving 150 additional patients through mental health counseling and wellness services by the end of 2024. These patients will visit Grace an average of seven times annually for these services, leading to 1,050 additional encounters in the first year of the program’s expansion.  These services will include one-on-one counseling, social services referrals, wellness visits, and group classes. Grace plans to do this by adding four new mental health counseling interns each semester and a new staff social worker.
