Angel Flight™ Southeast, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer pilot organization involved in “public benefit flying.” Providing a variety of services to the community, AirFlight Southeast focuses on arranging free air transportation by private aircraft to distant medical facilities when commercial service is not available, impractical or simply not affordable.
As a member of Air Charity Network™, an association of charitable aviation organizations comprised of more than 7,000 pilots, they have flown more than 22,000 missions for 35,000 passengers nationwide.
Far-away doctor appointments, special surgeries, or frequent chemotherapy/ radiation at a faraway facility all are all reasons for their volunteer pilots to fly missions. Occasionally they may even fly patients in the middle of the night for needs such as an organ transplant.
These volunteer pilots give of their time and resources to make sure others receive the care they need. Once a year, those pilots are honored at an annual banquet. This provides a weekend for the pilots to relax with their families and receive recognition for the sacrifices made to help others. Each pilot is honored with a plaque and the pilots with the most flight hours of service are recognized. This special time helps encourage the pilots to continue serving with Angel Flight Southeast.
For over five years, the awards banquet has been underwritten by the generosity of the Gloria Norris Sales Charitable Fund in honor of the family’s late father/grandfather, Dr. Franklin G. Norris.
